14… No wait, 15 Interesting Facts About Me

We read each other’s blog posts and get a glimpse into each other’s lives, but how much do you really know about me? I have shared a lot, yes. But I bet you didn’t know I had a twin brother, or that I grew up with a pet cow named Rosie, or that I was dangerously stalked by a girl. I kinda thought, who would want to read that stuff? Well, turns out I do! Reading fun facts about you posts are my favorite lately! So, here’s some interesting facts about me.

This post was inspired by Chevy’s 12 Random Facts About Me. Some of my favorite blog posts are the real personal ones. I love learning fun things about the people I follow as a way to feel more connected to them because it’s hard to get to really know someone through a computer screen! So, thanks Chevy, I also love to eat yet can never finish my plate! My whole family loves to point that out at holiday dinners… Every. Single. Time!

This post won’t be hard for me. My life has been anything but typical, beginning right from the womb.

I Had A Twin Brother

1.) I had a twin brother named Stephen (RIP) who died in the womb. I didn’t know about him until I was 11. After watching a movie about a set of best friends who were really twins- separated at birth, I asked my parents if me and my bestie were really twins. I was in total shock to find out that a.) we were not, and b.) I actually had a twin!

2.) I have another brother I haven’t talked to in 4 years. We were as close as most siblings typically are growing up, but grew apart as we got older. Now I don’t even know where he lives.

3.) I was born with no lining in my stomach. I was very sick and couldn’t keep anything down. It eventually grew in, but I had sensitivity issues so I was on special formula until I was a year old.

I Have Celiac Disease

4.) I have celiac disease. I was diagnosed as a child, but my parents didn’t fully understand it back then. After a few years they thought I was better and I ate wheat for years. They assumed I was better, since I wasn’t throwing up after each meal. Celiac disease is not something you grow out of. I cut all gluten out five years ago and feel so so much better!

5.) I grew up on a farm with cows, pigs and chickens. I even had my own cow named Rosie. Growing up I was a member of the 4-H club.

6.) I was a ballerina for 10 years. Not really that interesting but it was a big part of my life. I was obsessed with dance growing up.

From Teen Mom To Reporter

7.) I was a teen mom- pregnant at 16.

8.) I dropped out of high school in grade 10, to take care of my baby.

9.) I graduated high school from home and then went to college where I earned a degree in journalism.

10.) I wrote for my first magazine at the age of 21 and then became a full time news reporter at 22.

11.) I’ve been married twice and never changed my last name. As a writer, I think if you were born with a cute and catchy name why change it? Also, I’m kind of against it… like why should I have to change my name? Why can’t he? Don’t tell him I said that though lol.

Stalked By A Girl

12.) I was dangerously stalked by a girl when I was 25. Yep, you read that right. She called me a minimum 100 times throughout every day and night. Also, she would park outside my home and one night she took a baseball bat to my car. It was one of the worst times of my life, something like out of one of those lifetime movies. My friends and family were really becoming scared for me. And, just like in the movies the police can’t really do anything until they threaten you and you have proof. She was dating my ex husband and wanted me out of the picture for good. She ran over my ex (he was fine) and she ended up getting arrested.

13.) I interviewed the late Hugh Hefner’s good friend Jennifer Saginor about what it was like growing up in the Playboy Mansion.

I’m An Empath

14.) I am an empath. I didn’t realize until my mid-twenties and I think it’s sort of crazy to say and explain. It makes it hard to be in groups, especially around negative people. I pick up4other people emotions so easily as if they were my own. An example- one morning I was in my room getting ready, and my eldest daughter came out to the kitchen and sat down. Without even looking at her, seeing her or talking to her yet I felt something seriously wrong. I came out and asked her what was wrong and she broke down in tears with some sad news. I think the empathy is stronger with people I’m closer too 🙂

15.) I started Steph’s Social Pie as a college project. I’m currently studying Social Media Marketing at George Brown College. People had suggested it to me before but I didn’t get he push I needed until it literally became one of my assignments. My teacher gave me an A and actually showed the rest of the class my site as an example. My blog grew as the class went on, and I was able to use many aspects of my blogging journey as assignments. It’s really helped me shape my blog and create a vision for my future. You can read more about it here.

Very interesting and candid! I think you should have YouTube channel, if you don’t, as you seem to be a good storyteller.

  6. Now there goes a strong woman! I’m totally inspired by your story of resilience. A teen mom who stands up for herself and shows the world what she’s made of. I wish that we were all as strong. I feel bad when I see women drowning themselves in pity instead of actually standing up for themselves.
