Is Blogging Worth It?

Blogging For Passion And Blogging For Money!

is blogging worth it?

Is Blogging Worth It?

Is blogging worth it? What are the benefits of blogging? I asked myself these questions a lot over the past 6 months! I was getting traffic, connecting with my audience, making small change thanks to Adsense and I love blogging, but I wanted MORE! As a newbie blogger, trying to make some real money can be frustrating! You see the big bloggers out there showing off $$$ posts on Pinterest, but you’re struggling. You’ve monetized with Adsense or Media.net and affiliate links, but aren’t seeing much money. And you’re not at the 50k benchmark to apply for mediavine yet. So what’s a blogger to do? I’m sharing 2 networks that changed my blog and my bank account!

Update: I now work with Mediavine and love it! But these two networks are awesome for beginners.

This post contains affiliate links. I will make a commission if you click through and take action.

These 2 Networks Took My Newbie Blog To The Next Level!

EZOIC ADS

If you have about 10,000 monthly pageviews, you could make twice as much as you make with Adsense without a single ad click! That’s because Ezoic pays per impression instead of per click. I’m averaging between $10 and $20 per 1000 pageviews. At over 10,000 monthly pageviews- that’s much more than I was making with Adsense!

Paid Sponsored Blog Post Opportunities

Get Blogged pays you to blog! It can be a challenge to land paid sponsored posts as a newbie blogger. I don’t mind writing a sponsored post for free product, but I also wanted to explore paid opportunities so I can make some real money! Getblogged is a blogger outreach network that connects bloggers with businesses. It’s a win/win, as the businesses get to promote their products or services and bloggers get paid! Most of the opportunities require a site Domain Authority of 10 plus, but there are some opportunities for lower DA blogs. They pay quite well too, compared to many other blogger sponsorship opportunities for newbie bloggers! They always have new opportunities, and applying is super easy! Sign up below!

The Benefits Of Blogging, Besides Money

I don’t just blog for money! I love blogging but I wanted more. Obviously. But, I was worried that if I didn’t make any money, I would be stuck in a job I didn’t like. Even worse, I feared I would give up on blogging because I wouldn’t have the time to keep up with such a ‘hobby’ if it wasn’t generating any income. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t blog just for the money, but if I’m going to allocate so much time to something, I need to make it worth it financially too. Plus, blogging can actually end up costing you money if you let it! Lucky for me, blogging has brought me some income and has sparked a passion in me I thought I had lost for good.

If you haven’t started a blog, but are thinking about it, I highly recommend you jump off hat fence right into it. You can get started for only $2.95 a month with the best self hosting service out there- Bluehost! It is so easy!

Blogging For Money Or Passion | Why Not Both?

is blogging worth it

Before I started this blog, I was a writer for news and magazines for about 10 years! I took five years off writing to stay at home and raise my little daughter. I was passionate about momming, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. I started thinking I was just experiencing a little late postpartum depression and was definitely suffering from anxiety. Little did I know, it was body trying to tell me something.

I had to make some changes. I knew I was a writer because it’s all I’ve ever known, but writing for print media seemed like a dying field. I enrolled in college, studying social media marketing and with that, this blog was born! I only wish I started sooner. Blogging has helped me re-discover my passion. I was pasionate about momming of course, but I’m a writer and when given the chance to write about what I love and make some money, I can’t explain how happy that makes me:) It’s crazy how life works out when you listen to your intuition. If you’re feeling like you should start a blog, I say try it now!

Before going back to school and blogging, I tossed around ideas like maybe opening up a cleaning business (I friggen hate cleaning) or bookkeeping because I can do it from home and it pays well (I am not even a numbers person… like at all). I thought of these career paths because the money is decent and the flexible hours would allow me to be there for my daughter when needed. But as you can tell, I had zero passion in those fields. I almost chose to settle. Almost! And, that kinda really scares me! How easy it is to settle for a job you’re not passionate about.

New Ways To Make Money As A Blogger

For some it can take years to make much money, but it’s defintely possible to make $500 or more a month in less than a year of blogging. But it’s going to take work.

If you want to make money as a newbie blogger, work on increasing your monthly views and raising your domain authority (DA) to at least a 10.

Having a higher DA and a decent amount of traffic will increase your advertising and colab opportunities. There are so many ways to make money as a blogger, from affiliate marketing, sponsored posts and advertisements placed on your site. However, I wouldn’t recommend monetizing until you hit around 10,000 monthly views, otherwise it may not be worth it unless you are working with affiliates and a highly engaged audience. If you haven’t hit 10,000 monthly blog views yet, keep pushing to grow your blog traffic by using the benefits of social media and SEO techniques.

I Blog For Passion

Imagine loving your job so much you can’t even get enough of it? I don’t know if this is normal or not, but I get so excited about blogging that I stay up super late writing and designing and then wake up super early to plan onI more blog ideas! The passion is real! And as my blog started growing, my mental health improved too:) I went from feeling a little lost and anxious, some days even depressed and totally unmotivated- to excited, confident, and obviously very motivated. The fact that I can make a part-time living from blogging in under a year is just the icing on the cake! Update- I now make double what I did thanks to Mediavine:)

So Is Blogging Really Worth It?

is blogging worth it?

There are so many benefits of blogging! Blogging has changed my life in so many ways! Not only has it helped my bank account, but more importantly, it has really improved my mental health! So, is blogging worth it? Well, my only regret is not starting sooner!

So many people settle for a career without passion because they get stuck in a job. They need the job at the moment and then get comfortable or they hate their job, but the money is too good to leave! Why not combine both your passion and career!

It won’t be easy, and it’ll definitely be a lot of work! But, I promise it’ll be worth it. I’ve seen too many bloggers giving it their all for like 5-6 months and not making the money they expected- so they give up! All I can say to that is, if you’re only in it to make money, than you haven’t found your passion! And, if you’re passionate about something, it’s always worth it🙂

I needed this article, thank you! I am about 2 months into blogging and still feeling anxious. I fell in love with blogging and I can’t wait to wake up every morning to work on my blog before my daughter wakes up. Going from having a full time career to becoming a SAHM I was feeling lost but I now have a reason to set my alarm again! I am nervous if I will be able to make any income with my blog and articles like this give me the courage and inspiration to keep going.

  12. ‘How easy it is to settle for a job you’re not passionate about.’ This is really true. I feel so many of us end up accepting what happens to us, rather than chasing what we want, primarily because we end up thinking that to chase that which makes us happy is a juvenile thing that we should leave behind as we get older. That;s how I sometimes feel anyway. I really enjoyed this post, plenty of helpful tips and it’s always so nice to read about someone who is doing something they enjoy. There isn’t enough of that kind of conversation around! Thank you 🙂

    1. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a nice comment! I appreciate it very much 🙂
I was hoping to inspire others to think about their passions and to know that you don’t have to settle for a job you don’t like! It may not be easy, but it’ll be so worth it to take a chance and go after what you love!!
      Thanks again lovely!!
