If you don’t know what I’m talking about – retin is only the world’s best anti-aging, anti-acne, anti-everything bad cream on the planet! Read my post about the benefits of retin a.

Speaking of skin- you can start improving yours right now with stuff from your kitchen, so you have no excuses. You might not even have to leave the house!

Here’s some in-kitchen ingredients that are not only tasty, they’ll also help your skin!

BELOW ARE TONS OF EASY, EFFECTIVE DIY BEAUTY HACKS, including the very popular baking soda, lemon and honey pore refining scrub (which is one of my faves). Keep scrolling for tons of ideas.

Honey Face Wash And Mask

You can use honey as a face wash or as a mask.

Benefits of honey for skin include:

  • Antiseptic
  • Antibacterial
  • Acne treatment
  • Full of antioxidants
  • Moisturizing

How To Use:

As a face wash, simply scoop up a teaspoon or so of honey and warm up in your hands. Apply to your face and gently rub in circular motion to loosen up dirt and oils. Rinse well with warm water and pat dry!

As a mask, apply a thin layer of honey onto clean skin. Let sit for 20 minutes, and rinse off with warm water and pat dry.

Honey and Sugar Face Scrub

Turn your honey into a quick and easy face scrub by adding a little sugar. Mix a tablespoon of honey with a teaspoon of sugar and form a paste. Then GENTLY massage the scrub onto your face in gentle circular motions to exfoliate. Rinse well and follow up with moisturizer.

Lemon And Yogurt Face Mask

Yogurt and lemon are both skin brightening ingredients! Lemon contains vitamin c and yogurt is full of lactic acid, both of which will lighten your skin tone.

How to make a lemon and honey face mask

Don’t use this mask daily, as it can cause irritation. I suggest using weekly, depending on your skin type.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tablespoon of plain, unflavoured, all natural yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice

Mix the ingredients together in a bowl.

Apply a thick layer on to your face.

Leave on for 15 minutes.

Rinse with warm water. Pat dry and moisturizer.

Coffee Grinds Body Wash

Adding coffee grinds to your body wash can really improve your skin!

Benefits of coffee grounds for skin:

  • Reduces the appearance of cellulite
  • Reduces puffiness

How to do a facial tea steam:

Tie your hair back.

Bring 5 or 6 cups of water to a bowl in a pot or using a kettle.

Add a tea bag of your choice. Green tea is great for this!

Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes more.

Carefully pour the water into your sink or bowl.

Take a seat and lower your head about 6 inches above the sink or bowl.

Raise or lower your head to increase or decrease the heat and steam.

Steam your face for about 10 minutes.

Coconut Oil Beauty Treatments

Coconut oil is one ingredient that can do so many things! It’s great for cooking, but wonderful for your skin too! It’s full of antioxidants, including vitamin E, and also contains lauric acid, which has antimicrobial properties so it can help fight acne! It’s also great for your hair!

  • Plumps skin
  • Perfect shaving oil instead of cream
  • Repairs hair
  • Tames frizz

Uses for coconut oil:

  • remove makeup
  • overnight hair mask
  • on the ends of your hair as an antifrizz

Oil Pulling. Coconut Oil For Your Teeth

Coconut oil is also amazing for a healthy mouth! It can remove the harmful bacteria in your mouth to prevent cavities and decay and even whiten your teeth!

How To Oil Pull

Add a tablespoon of coconut oil to your mouth and swish it around for 15-20 minutes. The oil breaks down the bacteria and plaque and dissolves it. Spit it out when you’re done and give your mouth a rinse with some water.

Baking Soda, Lemon And Honey Mask

This mask does it all- it cleanses, soothes, hydrates and calms your skin.

Lemon is antibacterial.

Honey is soothing and hydrating.

Baking soda is mildly exfoliating and anti-inflammatory.

It works so well because the baking soda is super fine and gets deep down into the pores and then mixed with the lemon it fizzes up a bit, pushing the gunk out of your pores! Follow with a splash of cold water and you’ll see tighter pores, immediately!

How To Make Lemon, Honey, Baking Soda Mask

You’ll need:

  • 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice or 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of baking soda
  • 1 Tablespoon of honey

Mix all the ingredients together to form a paste. If it’s too runny, add a little more baking soda. If it’s too thick, add a little water.

Apply to clean skin and let sit for 5-15 minutes, depending on your sensitivity. Lemon can be harsh on sensitive skin so be cautious.

Rinse with water and pat dry.
