The Best 90s Movies

Quarantine And Chill With These Throwback Faves

I love the 90s. The food, fashion and especially the movies. They make ya feel good.

I’ve been waiting for a real, good movie to be released for so long, but I feel like nothing compares to some of my old favourites.

Some of the best movies were made in the 90s. Despite bigger budgets and advanced technology, today’s movies just don’t compare to some of my old faves, like Fear and Vanilla Sky! Two of the best 90s movies that you should definitely watch and watch again!

I’ve been re-watching all of my old favourites during the quarantine and I thought I would share my list so you can enjoy too! If you click on the movie images, you can rent them for a little quarantine and chill tonight!

Best 90s Movies

Vanilla Sky. Open your eyes… and watch this movie! Starring Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz, this compelling thriller shows you that money really can’t buy you everything. I think it might be on Netflix US but it’s not here in Canada:(

Jerry Maguire. Another Tom Cruise movie, but this one is a rom com! When a high-powered sports agent gets fired for standing up for what he believes in, he starts over with a few loyal people including Cuba Gooding Jr and Renee Zellweger. Renee and Tom spark an unforgettable romance that’ll have you saying ‘I love him.’

Fight Club. Starring 90s Brad Pitt. Do you need anything more? Okay, well this 1999 blockbuster is about an office worker who is looking for something more in life. He needs an adventure. So he gets himself involved in an underground fight club that turns out to be so much more. What could go wrong?

The Beach. In this movie, Leonardo Di Caprio takes a solo trip and ends up joining a group of backpackers on a nearly impossible journey to a secret beach. But social evils and dangerous waters surround them once they arrive.

Final Destination. When your time is up, it’s up? Or is it? If you’ve ever had a premonition that later came true, this movie is for you. It stars Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith and Tony Todd.

Pretty Woman. I love Julia Roberts! And I love her with Richard Gere. She’s a pretty prostitute and he’s a wealthy man living in a posh penthouse. He hires her and ends up falling in love in an unlikely, yet totally believable romance.

Being John Malkovich. A weird and disturbingly funny movie starring non other than John Malkovich himself along with John Cusack, and Cameron Diaz. When a puppeteer finds a portal that leads into the mind of movie star John Malkovich, things get strange. It’s a unique movie that’ll have you thinking ‘what the beep did I just watch?!’

There’s Something About Mary. Does the geek get the girl? Find out in this hilarious rom com, starring Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller and Matt Dillon.

The Mask is smokin! When bank clerk Stanley Ipkiss aka Jim Carey, puts on a mysterious mask, he turns into an evil villain that falls for the lovely Cameron Diaz.

Speed. The movie stars Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper, Sandra Bullock, Joe Morton and Jeff Daniels, but Reeves and Bullock spend most of the movie in a speeding bus, with a bomb onboard that is set to go off if the bus drops below 50 mph.

Point Break. Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves aka Johnny Utah, star in this action packed crime-thriller that features an undercover FBI agent trying to catch a gang of surfer bank robbers.

What Lies Beneath. An awesome thriller from 2000. Im gonna watch this tonight! Starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford. Pfeiffer plays the wife of a university research scientist who thinks her home is haunted by a ghost. But is she actually going insane?

Meet The Parents. Think meeting your partner’s parents for the first time was awkward? Think again. With a last name like Focker and an all star cast of Ben Stiller, Teri Polo and Robert DiNiro how can this movie not be on this list?!
