A Simple Skin Care Routine That Works!
In this post I will show you some really effective beauty tips for face acne and blackheads! We all want beautiful skin, but acne and blackheads can sometimes get in the way. You wash your face and avoid sweets (sometimes), so what gives? While it’s true proper hygiene can help clear your skin, your skin type also has a lot to do with your genetics. However, there are ways to improve your skin, despite your genes!
Let’s look at some of the best ways to treat acne, prevent breakouts and get rid of those pesky blackheads (definitely don’t squeeze them!).

Always, ALWAYS, Wash Your Face Before Going To Bed
Even if you don’t wear makeup, your skin (and pores) are still dirty! Oil, dust, and dirt all end up on your precious face and can clog pores the same way makeup can! So make sure to thoroughly wash your face before you go to sleep. Make it a habit and your skin will be happier and healthier.
I love the First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser. It’s mild and I swear my skin feels softer and smoother after!
Gently Exfoliate, Weekly
Avoid those scrubs with the big chunks! They will wreck havoc on your skin, breaking open your pores and even causing damage! Even with daily scrubbing, dirt, dry and dead skin can still be left behind and stuck deep inside your pores. One of the best beauty tips for face us gentle exfoliation. Exfoliating helps to loosen up the dead skin, fluff off the dry skin and bring up the oils inside your pores! My skin always feels baby soft after I exfoliate.
Just be sure to use a gentle exfoliator, nothing abrasive or you’ll do more damage than good!
This gentle rice exfoliator will leave your skin so smooth! It’s my absolute fave!
Be sure to drink lots of water to hydrate from the inside out! Avoid sugary and caffeinated drinks. And apply a moisturizer every day that’s suited for your skin type. Just because you have oily or combination skin, doesn’t mean you should skip the moisturizer! Hydration can actually help improve oily skin, by balancing it! Sometimes your skin can over-produce oil when you strip it with harsh cleansers and then fail to replenish the moisture!
My favourite moisturizer for dry skin is Dr Jart Ceramidin. It plumps skin, without making it greasy or ever breaking me out. It is a bit on the pricey side, about $60, but I haven’t found anything that really hydrates on this level.
Keep Your Hands Off Your Face
This is one of the best beauty tips for every face! And absolutely no picking! Your hands are FULL of dirt and bacteria! You don’t want that ending up in your pores. And picking your pimples or squeezing your blackheads, will only make it look worse and you could end up with scars.
Protect Your Skin
Wear SPF every day. I usually use SPF 50 every day. Make sure to find a lightweight spf that is non comedegoenic.
This one is my favourite because it goes on SO light, and looks great under makeup! It’s not chalky or white like typical American sunscreen. It’s actually a skin tone sunscreen! Never seen anything like it here before! Plus if you buy any of these products through Sephora and spend $25 or more, they always have amazing free offers!
For Blackheads, Try Baking Soda
I’ve struggled with blackheads (haven’t we all?) and what has really helped was making a little baking soda paste, out of baking soda and a touch of water and gently rubbing it onto the problem areas. Leave for 10 minutes and literally rinse away your blackheads.
I’ve also created a mini baking soda scrub by creating the paste (just mix baking soda with a little water until it forms a thick paste) and gently (I repeat, GENTLY) massage your problem areas using a toothbrush. This worked great for me to clear out my pores and blackheads!
Find A Good Routine, And Stick To It
I know you wanna try the latest thing, but if you find a routine that seems to be working for you- stick with it! I find my some products work and others don’t. I recently found some amazing products that really work and I don’t think I’ll be straying any time soon. The best thing is, they are natural-based. My skin loves natural products and always seems calmer and clearer when I stick with them!
