How To Plan A Self Care Sunday
Sunday is the perfect day for a little self care. It sets you up for a successful week and helps you feel relaxed and rejuvenated with a more positive mindset. But proper self care is more than a bubble bath and a pedicure. Let’s look at some other self care Sunday ideas!
What Is Self Care?

Some Types Of Self Care:

Self care is more than just taking a bubble bath and relaxing. It’s prioritizing and taking actual care of yourself. It’s nourishing your body, mind and spirit. A self care Sunday should include rituals for your entire self. Self care also encourages self love!

I’m writing this post the evening before Mother’s Day Sunday, because even though we know we will be getting homemade cards and hand-picked flowers (probably from my front garden lol) and that is great, but the best gift is going to be spending some time taking care of myself rather than just taking care of everyone else. I try and practice a little self care most days, but especially on Sundays because it’s considered the day of relaxation and sets the tone for the week ahead.
Getting caught up on laundry this Sunday? Maybe it’s time to think outside the bottle and try Earth Breeze laundry sheets. They’re eco friendly and toxin-free so they’re great for you and the environment!

Tips For Your Self Care Sunday

Self Care Sunday: Get outside
Being outdoors relieves stress, reducing anxiety and depression and helps your body release feel good hormones. It’s literally an all natural mood booster!

If the sun is shining, you’ll be getting some extra vitamin D and going for a walk or hike gets your body moving. A little physical exercise does wonders for your mind and body.

Nature helps you to become more mindful. Take this time to be fully present. Notice the little details in nature. Don’t let your mind worry or think about your to-do list.
Self Care Sunday: Write in your journal
Journaling is a great way to discover yourself, set goals and boost your creativity. Check out this journal course to help get you started.
Try a mood tracker journal, journal prompts for mental health, mood tracker templates, habit trackers or a law of attraction journal. Here are 365 daily journal prompts to help get you started.
Self Care Sunday: Light some candles
Enjoy the flickering lights and relax with your book or journal. Candles are a whole self care Sunday vibe.
Self Care Sunday: Do a facial
Taking care of your skin is important. Try adding a facial to your self care Sunday. Remove the dead skin cells and build up with a deep clean facial or face steam! Really take a moment to massage in your serums and oils once your done. Clear, glowing skin helps you feel and look beautiful!

Self Care Sunday: Meditate
There are so many benefits of meditation, including stress reduction, anxiety relief, mental clarity and mood boosting. It can be hard to find the time to make meditation a daily ritual, but if you can try to include it in your self care Sunday plans you’ll be encouraged by the benefits.
Read a Book
Read a chapter of your favourite book, flip through a magazine, or read a blog!
Read some self love quotes
Self love is the ultimate form of self care and the two go hand in hand. Reading quotes helps keep you motivated on your journey to greater self love.

Plan your week ahead
This might not seem like very fun self care, but you’ll be grateful when your week goes smoother because it’s planned out. Pick out a few of your outfits, meals and to-do tasks and plan ahead.
Self Care Sunday: Cook your favourite meal
For me, cooking is therapeutic. It’s relaxing, enjoying the smells and sounds, and then of course eating it!
Paint or colour
It feels good to express your creativity and spend time taking up a hobby. I find painting and colouring, relaxing!
Check out these hobbies for women.
Grab a bouquet of fresh flowers
Fresh flowers brighten up a home and your mood for a fragrant self care Sunday! Just a simple act like this can brighten up your whole day!
Diffuse an essential oil blend
I love aromatherapy and diffuse some sort of essential oil blend nearly every single day. Try an uplifting lemon or orange blend, or a relaxing lavender!
Check out Simply Earth Essential Oils.
Pick up these aromatherapy shower steamers:
Go for a drive down some country roads
Grab a Starbucks, roll the windows down and put on your favourite playlist. Where you going? Doesn’t even matter!
Self Care Sunday: Make a new playlist
Put together a playlist of your latest favourite songs. You’ll be so glad you did!
Slow down
Take the morning to slow down. The week days can be so rushed and hectic that we get in to that habit. Take a self care Sunday morning to go slower and enjoy the process.
Pick up a new robe and some cozy slippers for your Self Care Sunday.

Practice deep breathing on your Self Care Sunday
Many of us don’t pay much attention to our breathing and in a rushed world, we end up not only living fast but also breathing fast and shallow instead of slow and deep. It feels so good to take some slow, deep breaths.
Smell the roses
You know what they say, stop and smell the roses… or tulips, whichever is around!
Set some SMART goals
Again, not exactly a fun self care activity, but a very worthwhile one! Do something today that your future self will thank you for!
Self Care Sunday: Do yoga
Yoga increases blood flow, improves flexibility, lowers blood pressure, and promotes a relaxed state! Definitely a must try!
Write down 5 things you are grateful for!
It feels so good to be thankful! What are you thankful for today? Think of 5 things (or more) and write them out.

Wrapping Up: Self Care Sunday
Self care is important for your health and wellbeing. After a little time doing something just for you, you’ll feel more like yourself. Taking time for you will help you reconnect with who you are and what you need. YOU MATTER!
