The learning curve is a bit steep and can be intimidating. Get your site set up and give yourself a few weeks to get the hang of things before you really dive in. It took me a few months even before I really got comfortable blogging.

About page– Your about page should tell a bit about you and your website. Every site should have an about page to help shape your brand. Use your about page to explain what readers can find on your website, why you started your blog and even a little about yourself if you want.

Blog posts– Want to learn how to become a blogger? You’ll need to write some blog posts. You’ll want to start off with a few blog posts to help you build momentum, get a feel for blogging and start the foundation of your website. I suggest starting off with a few blog posts, maybe aim for one in each of your niche topics. For example, if your blog is about cooking you can create several categories within your niche such as: Under 30 minute meals, Comfort Foods, Kids Foods, Desserts, etc.

I started this blog with just one blog post, but looking back I would have liked to have started with a few more. I also recommend publishing once a week if possible to keep your website alive and growing.

Social media accounts– If you want to grow your blog, sharing it across social media can help you attract an audience.

Don’t waste your time trying to be everywhere, all of the time. This will burn you out and is ineffective. Instead, find out which platforms to focus on most.

First- identify your target audience. Who do you picture reading your blog? Who are you writing for?

Then, find out which platforms they hang out on. Are they on Pinterest? Maybe they’re also on Instagram? Pinterest is great for driving traffic and Instagram is great for shaping your brand, but often gets less clicks to your blog unless you have a huge following.

Search Engine Optimization is also VERY IMPORTANT! Everyone is on Google and searches for terms related to your blog. Focus on building your SEO right from the beginning and you’ll connect with your ideal audience without having to be constantly connected to social media.

Be patient. Perhaps the most valuable piece of advice I could give is if you want to become a blogger and make money is to give it time to grow. It took me o a year before I made any money and two years before I started to make over $1000 a month. It doesn’t happen in one month!! Where did you get that crazy idea?

Once you’ve got the hang of design, publishing and promoting, you can focus on learning affiliate marketing and blog advertising so you can make money. It really helps if you focus on growing your blog first and then making money once it’s established.

Take time to be consistent and focus on creating content that helps and connects with your audience. You can NEVER GO WRONG doing this.
