If you are interested in the health benefits of matcha tea, but don’t enjoy hot drinks, why not make a smoothie? It’s an easy and delicious way to get your caffeine and energy, without drinking coffee. You’ll be surprised how easy the switch is once you experience the benefits.

Here are four different types of matcha green tea smoothie recipes to try out.

1. Matcha Berry Smoothie

This first smoothie lets you have your favorite fruit smoothie, but with the added health benefits of the matcha green tea powder. It is a berry smoothie, so go ahead and add any berries you like. It can be one type of berry, or a mixed berry like with frozen blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. Any berries will do and mix well with the flavour of matcha.

Ingriends:

  • 1 cup of frozen berries
  • 1-2 tsp of matcha powder
  • 2 cups of your favourite nut milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • dash of cinnamon or honey (optional

How to make: In a blender, combine the berries with a nut milk of your choosing, matcha powder, chia seeds, and a banana. You can also season it up with some cinnamon or honey if you like. For a thicker powder, add some protein powder as well.

Blend well and enjoy!

2. Matcha Banana Green Tea Smoothie

This next smoothie is super easy to make. It is best to use a frozen banana because it gives the smoothie a nice cool consistency, without having to use a lot of ice.

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1-2 tsp matcha powder
  • 2 cups of your favourite milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

How to make: Add the frozen banana to the blender with your matcha powder, milk and some maple syrup to sweeten it up a bit. Blend together and enjoy! There are some stores that sell latte-grade matcha powder which is best when making a smoothie.

3. Banana Cacao Matcha Smoothie

This goes one step further by using the same ingredients as in the banana smoothie, but adding a chocolate flavor as well. It’s like a dessert, but for breakfast and because it’s healthy it’s a great way to start your day!

  • 2 cups of your favourite milk
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
