How to Get the Clean Girl Aesthetic

What is the Clean Girl Aesthetic and How to Achieve it!

Everyone wants to be a “clean girl” these days, and I have to say, I am completely hooked on the ‘clean girl aesthetic’. Tiktok is full of ‘Clean Girls’ and I am obsessed with the idea of looking so fresh and effortlessly pretty. Years ago, my makeup routine was all about the matte look, with thick foundation, even thicker eyeliner, and lashes so long you could see them flapping in the wind. Let’s not even start on my pin-straight, severely dehydrated hair. But now, my body (and soul) are ready for this clean girl era.

Clean girl aesthetic is all about dewy skin, no need to cover your skin (maybe a little tint and spot concealer) but the idea is to look fresh and clean, not fake and covered. My days of contour and foundation are over. And, I’ve learned to embrace my natural wavy hair, instead of blowing it out and straightening it all the time.

It’s not all easy though. Clean girls exfoliate regularly and love a good skincare routine. They also focus on clothing that isn’t so much trendy, but is comfortable and makes you feel (and look good).

Here are 10 (okay, I added more after) tips that have helped me transition from my old, heavy makeup days to embracing this fresh, minimalist ‘clean girl’ style.

Hydration with a Twist: Gone are the days of neglecting water. I’ve turned hydration into a daily treat with fruit-infused water. It’s amazing how something as simple as adding a few cucumber slices or berries can make staying hydrated feel like a luxury.

The Ultimate Shower Experience: I’ve transformed my showers into a sanctuary of relaxation. Incorporating body scrubs and shower oils, I create a spa-like atmosphere that soothes my mind and rejuvenates my body. Sephora has TONS of great body scrubs and hydrating shower oils which make your shower feel so luxe.

I love this one from Tree Hut and this one from Tree Hut smells delicious too!

Wardrobe Overhaul: I did a major cleanse of my wardrobe. Now, I focus on pieces that fit perfectly and reflect my personal style. I recently shared my love for an oversized blazer on Instagram, and it’s become a staple in my ‘clean girl’ wardrobe. My fave brand that really brings out the whole “clean girl” vibe is Lululemon. It’s cozy, classic and versatile. And Shein Basics has some really cute options. Like this body suit: https://rstyle.me/+ZGoNFprlh_zcoX1b3A3trQ

Skincare as Self-Care: My skincare routine is my nightly ritual. I cherish the moments spent applying my favorite serums and moisturizers, feeling my skin drink in the nourishment. It’s not just skincare; it’s self-care. If you’re looking for an affordable skin care routine, I recommend this 3 step set from Bubble for dry skin or this Bubble set for oily skin

Learning the Art of Subtle Highlight and Blush: I’ve mastered the technique of subtle highlight and blush. It’s all about enhancing my natural features with a light hand. It’s amazing how a little bit of light here and a little glow there can add just the right amount of definition without looking over-done.

Natural Brows for the Win: I’ve embraced a more natural brow look. Gone are the days of over-plucking. Instead, I focus on keeping them well-groomed and full, which perfectly complements the ‘clean girl’ vibe.

Embracing My Natural Lashes: I’ve said goodbye to heavy mascara (AND FORGET THE FALSE LASHSES… SERIOUSLY!). Now, I opt for a clear lash gel or a light tint, which gives my lashes a natural but defined look.

Dewy Foundation is a Game Changer: Swapping out my matte foundation for a dewy one was a revelation. It gives my skin a natural, healthy glow that feels so right for this aesthetic.

Simplifying My Makeup Routine: I’ve simplified my makeup routine, focusing on quality products that enhance my natural beauty. It’s all about looking effortlessly polished.

Finding Peace in Simplicity: Lastly, I’ve learned to find beauty in simplicity. Whether it’s my makeup, fashion, or lifestyle, embracing a more minimalist approach has brought a sense of calm and confidence to my life.

As far as scents go, Vanilla is super popular among clean girls! I’ll post a Vanilla Girl scents post next!

Transitioning to the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic has been a journey of self-discovery. It’s more than just a style; it’s about feeling confident and comfortable in your own skin. So, here’s to being fresh, effortless, and authentically you!
